As President of the Sauganash location of North Shore Community Bank, Mr. Hammer has responsibilities for sales & marketing, business development, and small business lending. Prior to joining North Shore Community Bank in 2005, Mr. Hammer had extensive experience throughout the Chicagoland banking world, including First Chicago, Citibank and LaSalle Bank, performing in various areas of retail banking & operations. Mr. Hammer is very active in many community organizations, including President of the Sauganash Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Sauganash Community Association, Board Member of the Peterson & Pulaski Business & Industrial Council, Past President of the Lane Tech Alumni Association, a member of the Swedish Covenant Hospital Patient/Family Advisory Council, and a Board Member and Past President of Chicago Ballet Arts. Mr. Hammer is also Chairman of the Corporate Board of Directors of the Albany Park Community Center and a Member of the Queen of All Saints Finance Council. Mr. Hammer holds a B.A in Behavioral Sciences from National Lewis University and has a Graduate Certificate in Bank Management from the Graduate School of Banking.
James B. McCormick, MD
When Dr. McCormick joined the medical staff of Swedish Covenant Hospital in 1957 as Director of Laboratories, his first assignment was to develop Advanced Laboratory Technology for Swedish Covenant Hospital in the then new Diagnostic Wing of the main building. In the 49 years since this first appointment, Swedish Covenant Hospital has been transformed by the extraordinary service and tireless efforts of Dr. McCormick. His exemplary leadership and spirit of compassion continues to guide the Hospital in advancing a healing environment.
The Medical Staff elected Dr. McCormick as its President in 1969 and he has served on its executive committee until 2005. During this time, his innovative ideas brought international recognition to Swedish Covenant Hospital after he invented the Cryostat Frozen Section for intraoperative surgical diagnosis. The Hospital was also among the first to install Technicon Automation to Clinical Chemistry, now advanced to Computer operated Robotic operation. He led the design of the East Wing Laboratory in 1978 and participated in building a computer-assisted laboratory that served clinics and doctors’ offices from South Chicago to Rockford during the 1970’s.
The Swedish Covenant Board of Directors called Dr. McCormick to serve as President/CEO in 1983. As president, Dr. McCormick was instrumental in the development of a long range strategic operations and building plan that laid the foundation for the present advancements of the Hospital campus. Anchored by the acquisition of the Chapin Hall Land and Buildings in 1984, the campus of Swedish Covenant Hospital grew quite literally overnight under his leadership. The purchase orchestrated by Dr. McCormick included five acres of land on which the Galter LifeCenter and the Galter Medical Pavilion were later built. Chapin Hall became The James and Suzanne McCormick sponsored Childcare Center, which has graduated several thousand employee and community children during its twenty plus years of service.
In addition to his service to Swedish Covenant Hospital, Dr. McCormick was the Chairman of the Galter LifeCenter from 2004-2008. It was in this capacity he directed the most recent expansion of the LifeCenter.
Dr. McCormick remains committed to furthering the mission of Swedish Covenant Hospital as the Chairman of the Swedish Covenant Hospital Foundation and Chief Scientific Officer.
Dr. McCormick lives in Lincolnwood with his wife Suzanne, and their children were born at Swedish Covenant Hospital.
Charles L. Adair
Chuck is a Managing Director in the BMO Capital Markets Mergers & Acquisitions Group where he leads the team’s Food M&A specialization. With nearly three decades of experience in the Food & Agribusiness marketplace, Chuck is responsible for initiating and executing investment banking transactions in the Food & Agribusiness sectors in North America. Before joining BMO Capital Markets, he was Senior Vice President and manager of the Harris Capital Markets Group. Prior to Harris, Chuck was Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for Elders Grain, Inc. where he managed acquisitions for the Australian agribusiness firm in the U.S. and Canada. Early in his career, Chuck held senior positions in domestic and export cash grain trading, futures trading, and truck, rail and barge transportation logistics with Consolidated Grain and Barge Company.
Chuck has been a member of the Swedish Covenant Hospital Board of Directors since 1991.
Chuck has an MS in Resource Economics from Michigan State University and a BA from North Park College (University).
Lawrence P. Anderson
Lawrence Anderson is Executive Vice President of Finance for Covenant Ministries of Benevolence. He is responsible for coordinating the overall financial operations of the various entities under the control of the Board of Benevolence. He is also responsible for the centralized investment program of CMB as well as the Pension Plan for the employees of the CMB affiliates.
Prior to joining CMB, he was Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing for Newedge Financial, Inc. , a subsidiary of Credit Agricole and Societe Generale Banks. He has worked with Newedge and predecessor organizations for over 23 years. His client base centered on large international investment managers and endowment funds. Mr. Anderson served both Swedish Covenant Hospital and Covenant Ministries of Benevolence over a period of 35 years, as an elected board member, serving as board chair and finance committee chair at various times.
He received his undergraduate degree in economics from North Park University and a MBA (Finance) from the University of Chicago.
Ron Chadha is the Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Allstate Insurance Company. Ron also served as Director of Corporate Strategy and Business Development at Mead Johnson Nutrition and worked at the consultancy Marakon Associates where he focused on Fortune 500 company strategy engagements. Prior to business school, he held roles in the investment banking and private equity industries and was part of an early-stage start-up.
Ron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from UCLA and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
David L. Filkin
David joined Gresham Partners in 2008 with over 20 years’ experience as a mergers and acquisition attorney, with both law firm and in-house experience. David is responsible for business development and strategic planning. He is a member of the Operating Committee and also serves as Chief Compliance Officer. Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, he has extensive experience working with high net worth individuals and families.
Prior to joining Gresham, David served in various executive capacities within the Duchossois family of businesses, including General Counsel of Duchossois Industries, Member of Duchossois Technology Partners and Executive Vice President of Arlington Park Racecourse. In addition, he served as lead Director of SmartSignal Corporation and as Director of AMX Corporation. Prior to Duchossois, David was a partner with the law firm of Pedersen & Houpt, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, banking, and real estate.
David has a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois-Champaign and a JD from the University of Illinois College of Law.
With more than 28 years of strategic selling/management experience in healthcare, Barbara brings knowledge and understanding of the many challenges facing our hospitals and healthcare systems today. As a Healthcare Consultant, she contracts with healthcare companies in a range of markets, successfully driving new Business Development and Marketing growth.
Barbara served as a Trustee of Sinai Health System for 25 years. An active Board member, she was Chairman of Sinai Medical Group, and a member of the Finance & Budget, JCAHO and Buildings and Grounds committees. She was appointed to Governors State University Health Administration Advisory Board in 2014 and is an active member of Chicago Healthcare Executives Forum (CHEF), on the Education Committee.
Barbara earned a Bachelor Degree from University of Illinois and and her MBA from North Park University. Additionally, Barbara is a Fellow in American College of Healthcare Executives.
Barbara and husband Gary have lived in the community for 35 years, with their children, Eric & Benji.
Bruce McNulty, MD
Dr McNulty graduated summa cum laude from University of Connecticut in 1982, and received his M.D. from Georgetown University in 1986. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston in 1989, and has practiced Emergency Medicine since that time. He is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. He practiced for 10 years at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago, and was the Chairman of Emergency Medicine there before coming to Swedish Covenant Hospital in 2001. He became the Chairman of Emergency Medicine here in 2005, and is also President of Swedish Emergency Associates, the physician owned company that provides staffing for our ED. Dr McNulty is broadly involved in a variety of activities at the hospital, and he and his wife, Susie, were Chairs of the 2009 fundraising Gala. Although Dr McNulty has lived in Chicago for 20 years, he remains an avid Red Sox fan, and vows to remain so until the Cubs win the World Series.
Julianne Migely formerly served as Senior Director, Custom Solutions of Truven Health Analytics, IBM Watson Health, where she led sales strategy, business planning and implementation of a new Truven Provider Solutions service that focused on integrating technology, analytics, and consultative services to create innovative, customized solutions for clients (e.g. portable analytics, customized BI applications and population health solutions). Prior to this position, she was Vice President of Academies/ Colleges/Associations & Population Health at Symphony Performance Health, Inc. (SPH), headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia , where she was responsible for managing existing strategic channel partnerships including Symphony’s Performance Health’s partnership with American College of Osteopathic Family Practice Medicine (ACOFP) and new channel partner business development. Prior to SPH she was Director of GPO Channel and National Associations at Truven Health Analytics where she directed partnerships representing over 20% of Truven’s provider solutions business segment annual revenues. She developed and led the execution of business strategies and programs with channel partners including CMMI grant work, bundled payment design, and clinical and operational performance improvement solutions. Specialties include: population health and patient engagement, strategic planning and marketing, hospital-physician alignment, physician network development; business development and strategic account management. A native of Chicago, IL, she earned her BA in Sociology and MA in Social Sciences (concentration in health care) at the University of Chicago. She is a member of American College of Healthcare Executives, Board of Directors Chair Heartland Health Outreach based in Chicago, and member of Association for Community Health Improvement. She has lived in the Swedish Covenant Hospital community for over 16 years with her husband and three children.
Kenneth R. Norgan
Ken Norgan was president of Norco Ltd for 40 years., a McDonald’s franchise organization that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008. His parents were among the first McDonald’s owners in the mid-1950′s, and after receiving a B. A. and M. A. from the University of Michigan, Ken took over the family business in 1971. After 55 years in business with McDonald’s restaurants in Lake County, Ken sold his business on 2013, and he is now on permanent sabbatical.
Ken has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Swedish American Museum in Andersonville since 1995, and is on the board of directors of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Harris Theater for Music and Dance. He is a former board member of Common Threads, the James Jordan Boys & Girls Club, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.
Of Swedish ancestry, Ken has long been a supporter of the Swedish American Museum, and his annual visits to Sweden include time spent as a director of the Bernadotte Foundation for Children’s Eye Care, based in Stockholm and New York. He welcomes the opportunity to work with the diverse employee and patient population at Swedish Covenant Hospital.
Lauren Rubinson-Morris is President and CEO of Medical Express Ambulance Service Inc. (MedEx) in Chicago. MedEx employs more than 350 full-time and part-time emergency medical technicians, paramedics, medical dispatchers and office personnel from its main facility in Skokie, Illinois.
MedEx is the exclusive ambulance, medicar and courtesy van transportation provider to Swedish Covenant Hospital. MedEx is also the exclusive medical transportation provider for Children’s Memorial Hospital as well as numerous other hospitals and nursing homes throughout Chicagoland.
Ms. Rubinson-Morris has been married for fifteen years to Glenn Morris, Chairman of the Board of Apollo Casualty Company and its subsidiaries.
Bruce Silver, MD
Dr. Silver is the Chairman of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Swedish Covenant Hospital. He has served in this capacity for over 15 years. During this time Dr. Silver has been president of the Medical Staff and ex-officio member of the hospital Board of Directors. He and his wife, Audrey, have chaired the annual gala and continue to serve on the Gala Committee. Dr. Silver was born in Chicago and attended neighboring Budlong School. He is a graduate of the Stritch School of Medicine and currently holds a clinical appointment at Northwestern University Medical School as an Associate Professor of Radiology.
Laura Zung is currently the CEO of the Lancaster Health Group, a family business that owns and operates skilled nursing and Alzheimer’s care facilities in the greater Chicago area. Lancaster oversees more than 500 beds and a mix of short term and long term patients. Laura has been with the business for 10 years. Prior to joining Lancaster, she was VP of Product Marketing at NTT/Verio, at the time, the world’s largest hoster of small business websites. At NTT/Verio, she led the team that developed the e-commerce platform and the hosted software products. Laura has also worked in management consulting at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) and McKinsey where she represented clients in the high technology fields. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and has an MBA from Stanford University. She and her husband have three children and a therapy dog.
