65th Annual Gala a Roarin’ Success!

On Saturday, June 18, over 600 Swedish Hospital staff members, friends and supporters came together at the Chicago Marriot for the 65th Annual Benefit Gala, Roarin’ 20s. The event raised just over $800,000 for programming and initiatives that support the emotional and physical wellbeing of our employees. Utilizing funds from the Gala, one Employee Lounge, three Employee Recharge Rooms have been created throughout the units where employees can decompress and recharge, seven Employee Break Rooms have been renovated and enhanced. Additionally, psychological first aid training was initiated and a response team was created to support staff impacted by traumatic events or ongoing mental health challenges.  

The chairs of this year’s event, Dr. Shameem Abbasy and her husband, Mr. Imtiaz Javed were thrilled to be play such a pivotal role. According to Dr. Abbasy, “Imtiaz and I were honored to serve as chairs of Swedish Hospital’s 65th annual gala and lead fundraising efforts to support such an important cause as employee wellbeing. The staff’s commitment to our patients is second to none.  It was wonderful to see the staff’s collective efforts and sacrifices recognized with so many generous contributions given by our donors.

In addition to dancing, dining and a wonderful silent auction, this year’s Spirit of Compassion Award was presented to all Northshore University HealthSystem frontline workers for their outstanding contributions to humanity and tremendous impact on the lives of so many patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
