The 62nd Annual Benefit Gala, Moonlight Oasis, was held on October 21, 2017. The event raised $860,000 to benefit the Violence Prevention Program at Swedish Covenant Hospital.
Swedish Covenant Hospital developed the Violence Prevention Program in 2015 to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to identify and respond to patients affected by domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault. Violence is a health issue with far-reaching physical and psychological consequences. Healthcare providers are in a unique position to respond to survivors of these forms of violence. Since the program’s inception, more than 900 medical providers and staff have been trained and more than 660 victims have been identified and assisted.
Thank you to all of our supporters – Chairs Dr. Kavita Singh & Ron Chadha, and Co-Chairs Drs. Angel Rivera & Emily Rubenstein, the gala committee, gala sponsors, guests, and volunteers – for making the 2017 gala a huge success.
Spirit of Compassion
Swedish Covenant Hospital Foundation is proud to honor David A. Dwight for his outstanding contributions to humanity. David truly embodies the Hospital’s “Spirit of Compassion.”
David Dwight’s connection with Swedish Covenant Hospital began immediately – he was born at Swedish Covenant Hospital. He grew up with his five younger brothers in Taiwan, the son of Covenant Missionaries, and was raised in the Covenant Church. David put himself through college, working as a security guard at Swedish Covenant Hospital while pursuing an undergraduate degree from North Park University. Most recently, David retired as President of Covenant Ministries of Benevolence, a position he has held for 15 years.
Throughout his 37-year career and many leadership roles in the Evangelical Covenant Church and Covenant Ministries of Benevolence, David always strived to do his best to minister and care for those less fortunate who are living on the margins of society. David’s leadership is one of exemplary service with compassion, integrity and humility. Covenant Ministries of Benevolence and its affiliated ministries have grown under his leadership. Those ministries include Covenant Retirement Communities, Swedish Covenant Hospital, and Covenant Initiatives for Care, which oversees and develops Covenant Enabling Residences, Covenant Children’s Ministries, and Adelbrook Behavioral and Development Services.
David received his undergraduate degree in psychology from North Park University, a MSW from University of Illinois and a MBA from Loyola. David and his wife Janice live in Northbrook, IL and attend Northbrook Covenant Church. They have two grown children, Jonathan and Jennifer, a son-in-law, Bob, and two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Alexis. In his spare time, David enjoys outdoor activities including skiing, hiking and biking.
